Work to do!
Tuesday, 09 March 2010 22:45

The new season is just around the corner. I'm sure everyone in Dundrum Cricket Club is looking forward to a summer of plenty of runs with the bat and plenty of wickets with the ball. Before we can think of this, there is a lot of work to do at The Meadow.

I'm sure Jeff Maguire and Alan Tormey have a few Saturdays ear-marked for the work parties. There has already been a lot of work going on both at the ground and behind the scenes. The Curletts have all been working hard to get a fence erected and along with Jim are building a retaining wall at the steps leading from pavilion to the pitch. Everyone is requested to attend any Work Parties organised by Jeff and/or Alan. All this work takes time and money.

We are trying to raise funds this year by having a car boot sale and maybe a golf classic. So if you have been asked to help, please remember it's for you benefit and the benefit of your club! It takes a lot of money each year to keep our club moving forward and this year is no exception. With the credit crunch biting hard, there are members who have no work and are devoting their spare time to help our club. It is unfair to those who are working during the week at the ground to be expected to work at weekends as well so the rest of us need to take a lead.

The indoor nets practise will be starting on Monday 22nd March at 7pm and the last session is on Monday 29th March at 7pm. After Easter, we will be using the concrete wicket at The Meadow. As it is quite expensive to hire this indoor facility, please take this opportunity to use it.

Finally, good luck to all connected to Dundrum and I hope we all have a successful season!
